Indian Head Massage
uses and adapts classics Swedish massage techniques for treating the scalp, face, neck shoulders and upper arms. It is extremely effective for treating stress because it works on the most affected areas of the body. However, although the treatment focuses on the upper torso and head the effect are felt throughout the mind and body. It is performed on the client whilst clothed, which makes it very effective for short treatments and for treating clients who are uncomfortable about undressing. Oils which have traditionally been used to maintain strong, healthy, shiny hair can be used during the scalp massage but clothing prevents their use during other parts of the treatment.
Use of oils:
- Mustard oil - generates heat, stimulates circulation, reduces pain and swelling, soothes sore, tense muscles, good for dry scalp
- Almond oil - good for mature skin and dry hair, moisturizes and protects the hair, stimulates hair growth, reduces muscular aches and pains, calms the nerves
- Coconut oil - lubricates dry skin and hair, relieves inflammation, ideal for dry brittle hair
- Sesame oil - moisturizes skin and hair, detoxifying, reduces muscular aches and pains, reduces swelling, stiffness, reduces premature ageing and graying of hair
- Jojoba oil - can be used with oily skin as emulsifies and unclogs pores
